A Grounding Experience: Picnic in the Park on the Gold Coast!

Last week's Picnic in the Park on the Gold Coast was everything I hoped it would be—grounding, peaceful, and packed with inspiring connections. Being surrounded by nature always has a way of putting things into perspective, but what truly made this gathering unforgettable was the incredible group of people who came together. We spent the day exchanging stories, sharing laughs, and talking about the highs and lows of our industry.

For those of us working in the NDIS and community services sectors, the path can be both deeply fulfilling and, at times, challenging. Some stories shared weren’t easy to hear; a few attendees opened up about recent struggles and experiences with unkindness that can surface within the industry. It was a difficult reminder that there’s still work to be done in fostering respect and compassion in business. Yet, I truly believe kindness can—and should—be at the heart of what we do, regardless of the challenges we face. Business can be done without sacrificing humanity, and seeing how everyone supported each other during these moments strengthened my resolve to keep cultivating spaces of genuine warmth and connection.

As we shared the good and the not-so-good, the sense of community and positivity in the air was tangible. We heard about so many amazing businesses, each one driven by people who genuinely care about making a difference. The conversations were filled with encouragement, support, and a collective drive to lift each other up. You could feel it—this energy of hope and resilience that somehow makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. You made this event a truly empowering experience. Our Picnic in the Park was unique because of each one of you, and it’s heartwarming to know that in spaces like this, we’re creating a community where kindness, respect, and positive energy take center stage.

If you couldn’t make it this time, don’t worry! We’re excited to introduce our first NDIS Provider 2 Provider Referral Program, an online space that brings the community directly to you. It’s a chance to connect, share referrals, and support each other virtually—so you can experience the same magic of community and connection from wherever you are. Here’s to many more gatherings in the fresh air and online, building each other up and spreading positivity. If you couldn’t make it to the park, we’ll see you in the virtual community!
